Big Five Inventory (BFI 10)

The Big Five Inventory (BFI) is a self-report inventory created in late 80s (John, Donahue & Kentle 1991) and considered as one of the shortest personality assestment instrument. It measures across five personality traits as follow: Extraversion, Agreeableness, Neuroticism, Conscientiousness and Openness.

BFI is suitable to be administered to 15 year old and above. For each statement, please indicate how much you agree it describes your personality using the following scale: Disagree strongly, Disagree a little, Neither agree nor disagree, Agree a little and Agree strongly. There is no right or wrong answer.

Trait Explanation Score
Extraversion Extraversion indicates how outgoing and social a person is. A person who scores high in extraversion on a personality test enjoy being with people, participates in social gatherings, and is full of energy.
Agreeableness A person with a high level of agreeableness in a personality test is usually warm, friendly, and tactful. They generally have an optimistic view of human nature and get along well with others.
Neuroticism Individuals who score high on neuroticism are more likely than average to be moody and to experience such feelings as anxiety, worry, fear, anger, frustration, envy, jealousy, guilt, depressed mood, and loneliness.
Conscientiousness Conscientiousness is the personality trait of being careful, or vigilant. Conscientiousness implies a desire to do a task well, and to take obligations to others seriously. Conscientious people tend to be efficient and organized.
Openness Openness involves six facets, or dimensions, including active imagination (fantasy), aesthetic sensitivity, attentiveness to inner feelings, preference for variety, and intellectual curiosity.
